Jaden Doher - Scholarship Recipient
I met Lilly while doing a photography class with Pablove with other kids with cancer. Lilly’s bright smile and energy drew me to her and although there were only about 5 classes, and 3 that we were both there for together, our bond grew strong, and it felt as if we had been friends for a while. Going through treatments together made it easy to relate to each other as not many other people our age was going through the same things we were. Even though the photography classes ended, Lilly and I made sure to keep in touch often over text and some social media. She had even invited me to her 13th birthday party where I had a lot of fun playing games and hanging with Lilly and her hometown friends. I was honored to have been invited and I carry that memory with me with pride.
This year, I graduated from The Bromfield School and plan to go to The Ohio State University to study biology on a pre-vet track. As I walked across the stage at graduation, I kept a photo of Lilly in my cap bringing her along with me on my journey and my next steps in life. Although she isn’t here with us, she always stays with me, and I think about her a lot. The story of our friendship shows how much of a light Lilly is and how incredibly smart and welcoming she was. Throughout the journey of my life, I will continue to carry her with me and spread the love that she showed me.
Thank you so much for the consideration and awarding of Lilly’s scholarship. I miss her so much and I am glad to be honoring her in any way I can. She was such a light in everyone’s lives. She will stay in my thoughts all throughout my time at Ohio State. Thank you again for everything. It means the world, Jaden Doher
Carrigan's Mom - Grateful
Words cannot describe how grateful I am. Seriously, you have no idea how much this gift is going to help us and make the holidays and life so much easier.
Carrigan loves her new Lilly Lights the Way swag. The sweatshirt fits. She put it right on and was cozy, she fell asleep while studying lol. And she really loves that it is a hoodie. Her head gets so cold. She loves all of it. Thanks for thinking of her. We are thrilled to be able to get through the holidays with the news of good scans. Of course, we will be doing chemo which stinks, but we are grateful for every moment. Carrigan’s Mom
What a Blessing
Hello Lyndi, I am the mom of 11 children (five biological, five adopted, and one foster). Two of our adopted children came to us with cancer and our current foster child has significant medical needs. We were recently in patient and Erin gave us one of your baskets. The toys were a life saver and the gift cards an overwhelming surprise. What a blessing! Thank you. Patient’s Family
Brayden Was Thrilled
Hi Lyndi, Thank you so much for the incredible gift baskets. Brayden was thrilled with the Apple gift card. He thinks he is getting a cell phone. You are doing such amazing work for families like mine. These days are hard. We are heading into our third round of chemo tomorrow. He must repeat induction because the leukemia still showed in his last biopsy. Thank you again so much for keeping our family in your prayers. It was so great to meet you and Jenna, Brayden’s Mom
Love & Support
Thank you for all the love and support. We are very blessed and thankful. Please continue to keep Finn in your prayers.
Happy holidays and happy 2022. Xoxo Finn’s Mom
A Huge Thank You
Just wanted to send along a HUGE thank you. We received your gift basket last week and not only did it bring a smile to our girl’s face, it took a huge weight off of her dad’s and my shoulders. The gift cards help tremendously, and she loves the Peppa Pig games. She has lovingly named the puppy Toby and he is becoming her favorite. Shaeli is currently in patient for relapsed A.L.L. We have a long, tough road ahead of us and your basket has lightened a load of stress. We remember seeing Lilly in the clinic a few times. Such a beautiful soul. Thank you again and please know that you have made a difference. Shaeli’s Mom
Made the Holidays Extra Special
I just received the gift cards and I am floored. Thank you so much for your generosity. This will certainly help us make the holidays extra special for Embeth. Have a wonderful holiday season. Embeth’s Mom
I Know How Your Heart Hurts
I wanted to say thank you so much for the beautiful gift basket and generous gift cards you blessed us with on our recent trip to Rhode Island. I’m sorry you and Lilly also went through the trauma of childhood cancer. It’s a wound that cuts deep and I know how your heart hurts. There are mornings when I cannot fathom another day without my sweet boy, yet I force myself to get up and go through the motions. I would love to meet in person the next time I am there, or if you are in the Seattle area, please reach out. Zander's Mom
Leo's Dog Donation
On Sunday May 26, a heartwarming event took place as Lilly Lights the Way gifted a puppy named Leo from the Lil' Troopers Litter to a human named Leo, after whom the puppy was named. The special moment was captured by Sam Read from WJAR channel 10, who was present during the event. The story was featured on “Show Us Something Good”.
